  • Can I pay Illinois online for taxes due and/or quarterly tax payments?

    Yes, you can pay Illinois online HERE. You first need to get a PIN if you haven’t done so previously. You can get a PIN by clicking on “Individuals” and “IL-PIN Inquiry”. Once you get a PIN you can go back to the homepage, click “Individuals”, and then go to “Make an IL-1040, IL-1040-ES, or IL-505-I payment”.

  • I’m self-employed, do I need to pay in taxes throughout the year?

    Generally yes, you need to pay into the IRS and the state in which you work every quarter. Usually you will need to pay in 100% of your taxes due in the prior year or 90% of your current year taxes to avoid penalties. If you would like assistance calculating your estimated tax payments, please contact us.

  • What if I am unable to meet with you in person, can you still prepare my taxes?

    Yes, we can prepare your taxes, even if you are unable to meet with us in person. We work with many clients virtually. You can provide all of your tax documents to us via mail, email or SmartVault (a secure file sharing portal). We can then work together to complete your return. If you would like to drop off hard copies of documents, please do so on Mondays or Wednesdays.

  • How do I log into SmartVault and upload documents?

    Once you receive an invite to SmartVault from us, you can upload and access all of your documents. If you are having trouble logging in, or uploading documents, please review our SmartVault instructions HERE. If you have not yet received an invite to use SmartVault, please contact us at info@reedaccounting.com.

  • Can I set up a payment plan for the amount I owe the IRS?

    Yes, you can apply online here.

  • Can I find out the status of my amended return?

    Yes, you can check the status of your amended return here.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

    We accept many forms of payment. These include Cash, check, bank debit, credit card, PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle.

  • Can I pay the IRS online for taxes due and/or quarterly tax payments?

    Yes, you can pay the IRS online by bank debit or credit card payment here.

  • How long will it take to get my refund?

    Generally, if you e-file, it only takes about 2 weeks to get your federal refund (though it can take longer). Illinois typically takes 2-4 weeks.

  • I don’t have the details from a prior year return. Can I get this from the IRS somehow?

    Yes, there are different types of transcripts that you can request from the IRS. You can request a transcript or you can create an IRS account online here.

  • Can I find out when I’ll receive my federal refund after you’ve e-filed?

    Yes, you can go to “track my refund” with the IRS here.

  • Can I find out when I'll receive my Illinois refund after you've e-filed?

    Yes, you can find out the status of your Illinois refund here.

  • Can you assist with financial planning and/or setting up my retirement account?
